Badge Requirements For Providers
Before applying to join Caninecheck, please review the requirements below. This page explains the evidence and documents needed for each badge so you know what to prepare before submitting your application.
Important Before You Apply
You do not need every badge before joining Caninecheck. All providers must meet the Verified Provider requirements first. Other badges can be applied for during sign-up or earned later as your profile grows.
Verified Provider
Required for all providers.
This confirms that a provider is a real person or business operating in the UK.
To qualify, you’ll need to provide:
- Valid photo ID, such as a UK passport or driving licence
- Proof of address dated within the last 3 months
- Proof of trading or business activity, such as an invoice, website, business profile, or registration document
Home Access
Approved
For in-home sitters only
This badge is for providers who care for dogs inside an owner’s home.
To qualify, you’ll need to provide:
- All Verified Provider requirements
- Valid Public Liability Insurance covering in-home services
- Copy of a signed Home Access Declaration
The declaration should cover key responsibilities such as respecting the owner’s home, not leaving dogs alone for long periods, and not allowing unauthorised visitors into the property.
Verified Reviews
Earned after joining.
This badge is awarded when a provider receives verified reviews from real paying clients.
To qualify, you’ll need:
- 5 approved reviews on your Caninecheck profile
- Each review must be linked to evidence of a real paid service
- Evidence may include an invoice, receipt, or booking confirmation
Compliance+
Professional standards badge.
This badge shows that a provider has supplied evidence of relevant training, cover, and professional standards.
To qualify, you’ll need to provide a suitable combination of:
- A relevant qualification for your service
- Valid insurance covering the service you provide, unless already submitted for another badge
- Canine first aid certificate where relevant to your service
- Optional supporting memberships, such as recognised industry bodies or professional associations
Compliance+ is reviewed based on the service you provide, so requirements may vary slightly between dog walkers, groomers, sitters, and future service categories.
Elite Standard
Highest trust level.
This is the highest Caninecheck badge and is awarded once a provider has reached our strongest level of verification.
To qualify, you’ll need:
- Verified Provider badge
- Compliance+ badge
- Verified Reviews badge
- A valid DBS certificate
- Home Access Approved badge, if you are an in-home sitter
You can upload a DBS certificate during your initial application, but this does not automatically award the Elite Standard badge. You must first receive 5 verified reviews and meet the required badge criteria.
Uploading your DBS certificate early
Providers can upload a recent DBS certificate during the initial application. This helps speed up the Elite Standard review later, but the Elite Standard badge will only be awarded once the provider has also received 5 verified reviews and holds the required supporting badges.
If you do not upload a DBS certificate when applying, we may contact you later once you become eligible for Elite Standard.
Ready to apply?
Once you have your documents ready, you can complete the provider application form and upload your evidence for review.
